Modular high-performance packaging system for chocolate products

Marking a real highlight at Prosweets, Theegarten-Pactec will be showcasing a new development of its own creation. The CHS modular high-performance packaging machine was developed specially for packaging chocolate products

Theegarten-Pactec will be presenting its new packaging solutions at Prosweets 2022 in Cologne. At Stand G020 H029 in Hall 10.1, the Dresden-based company will be unveiling the CHS, its modular high-performance packaging machine for chocolate products featuring the newly integrated “envelope fold” packaging type. The internationally renowned Prosweets supplier trade fair in Cologne (30 January to 2 February 2022) is just around the corner. It is an unmissable event for all companies in the confectionery and snack industry and thus the optimal platform for suppliers to showcase their products and solutions. It goes without saying that Theegarten-Pactec, manufacturer of packaging machinery for small-sized confectionery products, will also be there to present its latest bespoke solutions for the confectionery and snack industry. One highlight at the trade fair will be Theegarten-Pactec showing off its optimised CHS packaging machine for chocolate products that can handle various types of wrapping styles.

The CHS modular high-performance packaging machine was developed specially to package chocolate products in a careful and gently way. Back in 2020, Theegarten-Pactec optimised the machine for the packaging style known as double-twist wrapping, achieving an output of up to 1,800 products per minute in the process. The machine entered industrial trials as early as March 2021 and is already proving a hit with customers. A genuine driver of innovation, Theegarten-Pactec will now be demonstrating a prototype of the machine with the newly integrated “envelope fold” wrapping style at its Prosweets stand. Small chocolate pralines are packed effectively at a rate of 800 products per minute. The Dresden-based champion of innovation has set itself some lofty targets for the industrial trials that are slated for after the trade fair: with the CHS, for example, it hopes to achieve an output of 1,200 products per minute via a single-track infeed and as many as 1,600 products per minute with two tracks.

Different types of packaging combined on a single machine

The CHS is particularly flexible when it comes to the types of wrapping style it can handle. It can be switched to work with nine different packaging types: double twist, protected twist, top twist, side twist, foil wrap, bottom fold, side fold, Vienna fruit fold and now envelope fold as well. The machine allows the wrapping style and format to be switched quickly in just four hours. Most of these changes require only one person. Price-conscious customers are also likely to be pleased that the requisite wrapping style are easy to retrofit, regardless of how their CHS was originally configured when they bought it.

Versatile in use thanks to modular design

The machine’s modular design makes it ideal for a range of products and wrapping styles whose demand varies with the seasons. The CHS thus enables high-capacity utilisation throughout the year even with increasingly short product life cycles. It also guarantees a high level of investment security for buyers, who can respond quickly to new market requirements, such as resized chocolate products, and retrofit new formats or wrapping styles flexibly and without breaking the bank. Theegarten-Pactec also adapted the range of formats that the CHS can cope with for this purpose. Whereas it could previously pack products 16 to 45 mm long, the new system offers a range of lengths between 16 and 60 mm. The Dresden-based company has also made adjustments to the width - previously 12 to 25 mm, now 12 to 35 mm - thus opening up even more application possibilities for its customers. Circular products with a diameter of 12 to 35 mm and dome-shaped products with a diameter of 16 to 33 mm and a height of 16 to 28 mm are no obstacle for this high-performance machine either. Visitors to the trade fair will be able to see the manifold benefits of the CHS for themselves live and up close.
