SK Pharma Logistics is strengthening its position in healthcare and pharmaceutical logistics through a merger with the Med-X-Press Group. The goal is to develop an integrated platform for highly regulated supply chains in the healthcare market. The collaboration will operate under the umbrella of the SK Pharma Group and addresses a growing market environment with increasing demands for safety, quality, and scalability.

Expansion of SK Pharma Logistics into an integrated platform

The merger creates a comprehensive logistics structure for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medtech sectors. A total of seven locations and more than 590 employees will serve over 160 customers in the healthcare sector in the future. The platform combines warehousing, transportation, and ancillary services, enabling end-to-end management of complex supply chains. In doing so, SK Pharma Logistics is specifically expanding its service portfolio for highly regulated applications.

Infrastructure and Capacities at a Glance

SK Pharma Logistics has extensive warehouse capacities with temperature-controlled areas as well as specialized spaces for sensitive products. The infrastructure comprises approximately 65,000 square meters of warehouse space with capacities for various temperature ranges and controlled substances. This is complemented by proprietary software solutions, including a warehouse management system and flexible interfaces for integration into existing IT structures. Transport and reverse logistics are also part of the service offering.

Med-X-Press adds additional warehouse capacity and regulatory expertise. The company brings more than 20,000 pallet spaces, cold storage areas, and specialized infrastructure for controlled substances with over 4,500 pallet spaces to the platform. Furthermore, Med-X-Press holds comprehensive licenses, including a manufacturing license under Section 13 of the German Medicines Act (AMG) as well as GMP and GDP certifications. These capabilities complement the existing structure of SK Pharma Logistics.

SK Pharma Logistics Focuses on Growth in the Healthcare Market

“SK Pharma Logistics has been a central part of the SK Pharma Group for many years,” emphasizes Frederik Günther, CEO of the SK Pharma Group. “By integrating Med-X-Press, we are expanding our healthcare segment with a partner company that shares our focus on highest quality standards and uncompromising specialist expertise. The combination will enable us to serve our clients even faster, more reliably, and with greater precision.”

Med-X-Press also views the move as a strategic advancement: “For Med-X-Press, this step represents a significant opportunity. We remain committed to our clients, employees, and partners in our day-to-day operations, while gaining the strength of a larger corporate network. Being part of the SK Pharma Group gives us additional stability, new development opportunities, and the ability to further professionalize our services in the long term. Our commitment remains unchanged to providing the highest quality and absolute reliability across all processes,” adds Lars Dörhage, CEO of the Med-X-Press Group.

SK Pharma Logistics focuses on resilient supply chains and scaling

With this merger, SK Pharma Logistics is laying the foundation for a further scalable and robust supply chain in the healthcare market. Investments in digital and sustainable processes are intended to secure the platform’s performance in the long term. The combined structure serves as a starting point for further growth and potential expansion in Europe.
