Collaborative robots are evolving beyond light-duty applications. Manufacturers are looking for solutions that combine higher payload capacity with flexibility and compact design. This demand is particularly relevant in areas such as material handling, palletizing, and machine tending. Kassow Robots addresses this development with two new models, the “KR 1824” and the “KR 1240”. Both systems are designed to extend the use of collaborative robots into more demanding industrial environments.
Collaborative robots bridge gap to industrial automation
With the introduction of the new models, Kassow Robots expands the functional range of cobots. The systems are based on a seven-axis design, which enables extended reach and higher flexibility compared to conventional six-axis solutions. The goal is to close the gap between traditional industrial robots and collaborative systems. This allows manufacturers to automate processes that previously required larger and more complex installations.
Designed for flexible and space-constrained environments
The “KR 1824” and “KR 1240” are designed for integration into modern production environments. Their compact structure supports deployment in space-constrained areas. At the same time, the systems enable mobile and modular automation concepts. Both models offer different controller options, including external and EDGE-integrated solutions. This supports flexible system architectures and simplifies integration into existing production setups.
Performance improvements for demanding applications
The new collaborative robots provide several technical enhancements. These include a 50 percent higher joint torque, more than 20 percent faster wrist joint speeds and improved mechanical stiffness. These features enable more stable handling of heavier payloads. They also support faster cycle times and 40 percnet improved positioning accuracy. As a result, the systems are suitable for applications that require both precision and robustness. Christoph Rieger, Chief Sales Officer at Kassow Robots, explains: “The introduction of the 'KR 1824' and 'KR 1240' marks an important step in expanding the capabilities of collaborative robotics. Our unique combination of EDGE integrated controller, mobile deployment, high payload and extended reach enable more demanding applications within dynamic production environments.”
Collaborative robots in future factory environments
The new models will be presented at Hannover Messe 2026 as part of the Bosch Rexroth “CU.BE” showcase. The presentation demonstrates how collaborative robots can be integrated into future factory environments. Different use cases illustrate how these systems support material handling and advanced automation scenarios. The focus is on seamless integration into connected and flexible production systems.
