ABB and Rittal are combining their expertise to further develop electrical infrastructure for future requirements. The aim of the partnership is to accelerate the expansion of power distribution systems while addressing requirements for safety, efficiency, and scalability. The focus is on solutions suitable for both European and international markets, supporting the growing demand for high-performance energy distribution.

ABB and Rittal rely on standardized platforms

The collaboration is based on the platforms “RiLineX” and “Ri4Power”. “RiLineX” serves as a standard platform for busbar systems, while “Ri4Power” is designed as a modular system for power distribution. These are complemented by switchgear and uninterruptible power supply systems. The platform concept is intended to simplify the planning and implementation of power distribution systems. Standardized interfaces and compatible components enable faster configuration and installation. At the same time, an ecosystem of technology partners is being established to support further development.

Faster installation through new platform concepts

A key aspect of the new solutions is the reduction of installation effort. With “RiLineX”, assembly time can be reduced by up to 75 percent compared to conventional systems. This enables faster implementation of projects in the field of energy distribution. The combination of platform strategy and preconfigured components helps shorten project timelines. At the same time, adaptations to specific requirements can be implemented more easily.

ABB and Rittal integrate switchgear and systems

Another focus is the integration of components from both providers. Solutions such as “Tmax XT” from ABB can be integrated into Rittal’s “Ri4Power” systems. The goal is to achieve seamless compatibility between switchgear and power distribution platforms. Uwe Scharf, Managing Director Sales Germany and Europe at Rittal, stated that the existing collaboration in the field of uninterruptible power supplies and switchgear is now being expanded into a global technology partnership. The platforms “RiLineX” and “Ri4Power” are to be further developed through joint innovations.

Piero-Giorgio Schiannini, ead of Smart Power & Smart Buildings Sales and Marketing, ABB Electrification, explained that the partnership combines advanced low-voltage technology with established power distribution platforms. The compatibility between solutions such as “Tmax XT” and Rittal’s systems helps reduce complexity, shorten project timelines, and ensure reliable performance.

Requirements for modern power distribution

With this collaboration, ABB and Rittal are responding to growing demands on electrical infrastructure. The expansion of data centers, industrial facilities, and energy distribution networks requires flexible and scalable solutions. By combining standardized platforms, integrated components, and joint development, future projects are expected to be implemented more efficiently. At the same time, the aim is to improve planning reliability and facilitate the integration of new technologies.
