Evonik Oxeno has pushed ahead with its digital transformation at its production sites in Marl and Antwerp. Together with OMP, the “Unison Planning” planning platform was migrated to a cloud-based environment. This marks a shift for the company from purely operational planning to insight-driven and decision-centered supply chain management.

Decision-centered planning at Evonik Oxeno

Evonik Oxeno has been using the system to simulate scenarios since April 2021. Over the past four years, between 30 and 50 scenarios have been calculated daily and nearly 10,000 simulations have been performed. This scenario-based approach makes it possible to run through different developments and make data-driven decisions along the chemical value chain. This allows the company to respond flexibly to fluctuations in raw materials, market conditions, or logistical risks.

Cloud version brings new functionalities

The current cloud version of “Unison Planning” is based on previous experience, but has been fundamentally revised from a technical standpoint. It offers an improved cloud environment, a special framework for continuous production, and improved workflows. This allows complex scenarios to be created, compared, and implemented more quickly. Planners can thus focus more on strategic decisions.

Evonik Oxeno and OMP evaluate new platform version

“We didn’t reinvent how we work, we just made it easier,” said Frank Beißmann, Managing Director at Evonik Oxeno. “With this new version, we’ve taken everything we’ve learned and turned it into a faster, more intuitive, and even more powerful platform supporting confident, proactive decisions.”

OMP also sees the further development as an important step: “Oxeno’s forward-thinking approach is a benchmark for what decision-centric planning can achieve,” said Christian Wöllenstein, Senior Project Manager at OMP. “This upgrade reflects our shared vision of continuous improvement, one where supply chain planning is deeply intelligent, future-proof, and business-aligned.”

Digital planning solutions strengthen supply chain resilience

The collaboration between Evonik Oxeno and OMP shows how digital planning solutions can strengthen supply chain resilience. The new platform reduces complexity, shortens decision-making processes, and helps companies identify opportunities early on. Oxeno is thus setting an industry standard for sustainable supply chain planning in the petrochemical industry.
