From May 4 to May 7, Ifat Munich 2026 will highlight key future challenges related to water and resource security. As an international platform for environmental technologies, the event brings together representatives from industry and politics. The focus is on current developments in water management, the circular economy, and new approaches to securing resources. With an extensive program, Ifat offers numerous opportunities for professional exchange and discussion of key topics.

Ifat Munich opens with strong political presence

Ifat will be officially opened on May 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. by German Federal Minister for the Environment Carsten Schneider, EU Commissioner Jessika Roswall, and Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber. On the first day, the Spotlight Area Hydrogen will also be in focus. It will present applications and perspectives for the use of hydrogen in circular systems. The area will be officially opened in the afternoon by Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger.

Focus on water management and industry at Ifat 2026

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the European Water Industry Summit will take place. On the Blue Stage, an expert panel will discuss the importance of water as a strategic factor for resilience and sustainable growth. Also on Tuesday, the Federation of German Industries and Boston Consulting Group will present a study on the competitiveness of German industry through circular economy approaches. The presentation will take place on the Orange Stage and will address key questions related to industrial transformation.

Circular economy in focus

One day later, on May 6, 2026, another high-level discussion will focus on the circular economy. Representatives from the European Commission, industry, and the financial sector will discuss the role of circular business models within the framework of the Clean Industrial Deal. The discussion will center on how to ensure long-term competitiveness. In total, the Ifat Munich program includes more than 400 events, offering a broad platform for exchange, knowledge transfer, and discussion of current developments in environmental technology.

Ifat 2026 with strong international participation

Ifat Munich 2026 is characterized by strong international participation. More than 3,300 exhibitors will present their solutions, with over 55 percent coming from abroad. More than 142,000 visitors from around 170 countries are expected. The exhibition area covers a total of 300,000 square meters. In the outdoor area, live demonstrations will feature more than 110 machines and vehicles, including electric and hydrogen-powered models.
