The French company Orange Cyberdefense and Weidmüller, an international specialist in electronics and connectivity, announced their strategic partnership in the field of cybersecurity consulting at SPS Smart Production Solutions 2024. Together, they aim to make it easier for manufacturing companies to access comprehensive cybersecurity consulting services. The increasing convergence of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) is opening up new opportunities for the manufacturing industry. By analyzing machine data, advanced applications such as machine learning, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance can be implemented. This enables companies to increase the efficiency of their production processes while reducing costs.

Better protection of IT and OT networks and products against cyber attacks

However, the increasing networking at the production level also creates new challenges. Formerly isolated OT systems are increasingly connected to the IT infrastructure, which means that cyber security is becoming more and more important. This development increases the need for protective measures to ensure the security of production environments. Legal requirements such as NIS2 and CRA are forcing companies to protect their IT and OT networks as well as their products more effectively against attacks.

Guided by the principle 'Enabler from data to value', Weidmüller supports its customers in implementing future-oriented solutions. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of hardware and software solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and automation technology. Weidmüller has entered into a strategic partnership with Orange Cyberdefense to provide its customers with the best possible support in the area of cyber security. This cooperation expands Weidmüller's existing portfolio to include security consulting for machines and corporate IT/OT infrastructure. As a member of the Weidmüller partner network, Orange Cyberdefense supports customers in implementing security measures in machines or production plants and offers comprehensive advice on security lifecycle management. In addition, Orange Cyberdefense offers continuous 24/7 monitoring of systems and plants with its Security Operation Centers (SOC).

Orange Cyberdefense is the cyber security division of the Orange Group, offering consulting, solutions and services to companies worldwide. The security provider is committed to protecting freedom and building a safer digital society. The company specializes in threat analysis and provides access to current and emerging threats.
Through its partnership with Orange Cyberdefense, Weidmüller is expanding its IIoT partner network to include an important partner in the field of cyber security. Together, the companies want to support the manufacturing industry in securing their production environments. This is being done in consideration of legal requirements such as the EU NIS2 directive, the Cyber Resilience Act and the EU Machinery Regulation.
