The technology group Schneider Electric has presented the results of its sustainability program for the period from 2021 to 2025. With the conclusion of the so-called Schneider Sustainability Impact (SSI) program, the company is taking stock of its activities in the areas of climate, social responsibility, and corporate governance. By the end of 2025, the program achieved an overall score of 8.86 out of 10 points. This metric reflects the progress Schneider Electric has made in integrating sustainable strategies into business processes and value chains. Over several years, defined goals were translated into concrete measures and implemented worldwide.
Schneider Electric Reduces Emissions Along the Value Chain
A key focus was on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Schneider Electric supported its customers in avoiding emissions and using energy more efficiently. By the end of 2025, approximately 862 million tons of CO2 had been saved or avoided in this way. This exceeded the original target of 800 million tons. At the same time, the company also addressed its own supply chain. As part of the “Zero Carbon Project,” the 1,000 most important suppliers were engaged to reduce their operational emissions. In this context, the CO2 emissions of these partners were reduced by 56 percent.
Focus on Social Standards and Working Conditions
In addition to environmental aspects, the social dimension also played a central role in the program. Schneider Electric worked to establish uniform labor standards across its global supplier network. By 2025, 98 percent of strategic suppliers met the requirements for fair and safe working conditions. The goal is to strengthen human rights while simultaneously improving the working environment throughout the entire value chain.
Schneider Electric Drives Access to Energy
Another component of the sustainability strategy is promoting inclusive access to energy. Through the “Access to Energy” initiative, Schneider Electric has been supporting projects since 2009 to supply regions with limited infrastructure. By the end of 2025, the company had reached more than 61 million people with solutions for a reliable and affordable energy supply. This significantly exceeded the original target of 50 million people. In addition, the Group invested in educational programs. Since 2009, over one million people have been trained in energy management to build technical expertise and support the development of local structures.
Sustainability as an integral part of Schneider Electric’s corporate strategy
Numerous measures have also been implemented at the local level. Since 2021, Schneider Electric has initiated more than 500 sustainability projects in various countries. These activities are designed to enable concrete improvements on the ground while simultaneously supporting global goals. “Schneider Sustainability Impact 2021–2025 has been a transformative journey,” explains Olivier Blum, CEO of Schneider Electric. “For more than 20 years, sustainability has been rooted in our identity and driven our journey forward. By combining innovation, partnerships, and accountability, we have delivered progress against key sustainability metrics across our operations and our ecosystem. These results reinforce our belief that sustainability is a powerful driver of both performance and positive impact.”
Advances in energy technology lead to progress for all
Looking ahead to the coming years, the company plans to further develop its strategy and focus on technological innovation and collaborative partnerships. “Closing SSI 2021–2025 is a milestone, not a finish line. What remains is the collective capability we’ve built with our people, customers and suppliers, and the discipline to deliver concrete results and meaningful impact” adds Esther Finidori, Chief Sustainability Officer of Schneider Electric. “As we move toward 2030, our compass is clear: we’ll leverage technology and innovation for progress, bring others along, learn and share what works to scale impact while continuously striving to do the right thing. At Schneider Electric, we’re convinced that advancing energy technology can help power progress for all.”
Recognition Through ESG Ratings
Schneider Electric’s sustainability performance has also been externally evaluated. Among other accolades, the company received the Platinum medal from Ecovadis, was included in CDP’s A-List for climate action, and achieved top rankings in the World Benchmarking Alliance’s assessments. These evaluations underscore Schneider Electric’s position as an energy technology provider focused on sustainable development.
