At Interpack 2026, Kuka focuses its exhibition presence on robotics for packaging processes. The company will demonstrate how pick-and-place systems, mobile robotics, and software solutions can be combined into end-to-end automation concepts. The focus will be on applications that accelerate production processes, are flexibly adaptable, and can be integrated into existing lines. At the same time, requirements for hygiene, scalability, and digital connectivity are taken into account.

Robotics for packaging processes in combination with AMR

At the trade fair, Kuka will demonstrate how stationary robotics and autonomous mobile robots can be combined. Mobile platforms such as the “KMP 250P” model handle product transport, while the “KMP 600P” model can move entire production cells. This allows material flows to be designed flexibly and production layouts to be adapted. The combination of robots and AMRs enables end-to-end processes from handling to palletizing. This collaboration was already a focus three years ago. Now it is being further developed through an expanded portfolio. The aim is to make packaging processes more dynamic and to integrate internal logistics processes.

Pick-and-place applications for high cycle rates

A key focus is on pick-and-place applications for the packaging industry. In a consumer goods cell, multiple robots demonstrate how high-speed processes can be implemented. Delta robots detect products via integrated cameras and place them in defined patterns. The application simulates typical packaging scenarios, such as for food products. Multiple robots work in parallel in a confined space. Ralf Schneider, Business Development Manager at Kuka, explains that the multi-robot application is highly relevant for Interpack’s target audience and is already in use in this form at several companies.

Robotics for packaging processes with a new generation of robots

With the “KR CYBERTECH,” featuring a 35-kilogram payload, and the “KR AGILUS ultra,” the company is introducing two new robots. Both systems are compatible with the “iiQKA.OS2” operating system, which is designed to be scalable and supports a variety of applications. The system meets the requirements of ISO 10218:2025 as well as the new Machinery Directive. AI enhancements and flexible customization options enable automated processes to be designed for the future. Visitors can experience the systems in action right on site.

Software simplifies simulation and commissioning

In addition to hardware, Kuka is showcasing software solutions for planning and operation. “iiQKA.OS2” enables rapid commissioning and covers key functions of industrial automation. Supplementary software packages expand application possibilities, such as for pick-and-place or palletizing. “iiQWorks.Sim” is a simulation solution that can be used from planning through to virtual commissioning. This reduces development times and allows processes to be optimized early on. A 3D simulation at the booth demonstrates how the individual systems interact in practice.

Hygienic and clean-room robotics for sensitive applications

For applications with high hygiene requirements, the manufacturer is showcasing corresponding robotic solutions. Hygienic-Oil and clean-room robots are designed for use in sensitive areas and support stable processes in food and consumer goods production. The portfolio is complemented by applications such as the “Flexrobot.” Here, three “KR AGILUS” robots work together to perform tasks reminiscent of humanoid movement sequences. Control is handled by AI software. Ralf Schneider emphasizes that it’s not about what the robot looks like, but what benefits it brings to the customer. The trade show presentation demonstrates how robotic solutions can be combined for various applications, thereby supporting flexible, integrated packaging processes.
