Handtmann presents flexible production solutions for pet food products at the Interzoo 2024

Production of chicken, salmon and insect protein pet food sticks onto racks on 24 lanes with the FS 510 forming system

Handtmann will be presenting modular production systems for the production of a diversified range of pet food products on a stand area of around 120 square metres in exhibition hall 5 booth 207 at Interzoo in Nuremberg from 7th to 10th May. Solutions will cover process steps from product preparation all the way through to the packaging of formed treats and snack products or dosed products, such as wet food, BARF and cooked products in trays, cans, cups or thermoformed packaging.

In product preparation, Handtmann will be exhibiting the I225-iT to demonstrate ultra-fine grinding and emulsification technology for medium-scale and industrial-scale productions. This technology ensures consistently homogeneous product quality for a wide variety of products, such as chunks in gravy, snack sticks, wet food and more. The 1- to 5-stage cutting system chops products of any viscosity and temperature with great reliability. It offers optimum adaptation to the respective product with optimisation of the degree of fineness while simultaneously increasing productivity. The combination of original Handtmann cutting sets and variable process speed makes for perfectly coordinated chopping/grinding technology and excellent results.

Visitors can also expect the multi-lane FS 510 forming system with a VF 800 vacuum filler for the production of pet food sticks directly onto racks. Flexible forming of cubes, bars, pellets, heart shapes and more is possible for the most diverse meat, fish and even insect protein products. Production can be onto up to 24 lanes at the same time. The flow divider ensures a consistent product flow and thus extremely accurate final weights of each stick. Product separation happens directly at the outlet, either with wire or blade, uninterrupted and linear to the product speed directly onto racks.

The 2-lane SV 424 cutting valve with DS 552 depositing system and vacuum filler will be another exhibit to demonstrate simultaneous serial cutting and dosing of fresh meat directly into a thermo-forming machine. This solution can be used for the direct vertical dosing of chunky products into moulds, trays or thermo-forming machines without pre-batching. Portion sizes from 200 grams with a cutting and outlet diameter of 60 mm are possible. The cutting valve is available in 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-lane or 2x2-lane version with flexible distance between lanes. It is moveable, adjustable in height and can be flexibly placed above the table, conveyor or thermo-forming machine. It has been given a safety-compliant design without protective cover so that no additional costs are incurred for safety precautions.

The IG5-iT tying machine will be exhibited for sausage products in natural, collagen and artificial casing. Sausages in a calibre range of 28 mm to 80 mm are reliably tied at a high output with individually adjustable spacing and accurate weights, with or without loops. Separating the products immediately after the tying process is possible as an option to ensure safe sealing of the products while eliminating the use of metal clips.
