Vega continues to expand its international presence. At the end of May, the measurement technology manufacturer officially opened a new production facility in Jiaxing, China. Following the expansion of its electronics manufacturing operations in the U.S. in October 2025, the company is thus continuing to implement its global production strategy. The new plant complements the manufacturing operations at the company’s headquarters in Schiltach, which will remain unchanged.
Vega has been active in the Chinese market for 37 years. The new site in Jiaxing offers approximately 21,000 square meters of production, warehouse, and office space, accommodating about 180 employees. The start of production was preceded by several years of planning. Following the start of construction in December 2024, the project was completed on schedule. The production facility is located in an economic and technology development zone in Jiaxing and is intended to further strengthen the company’s presence in this important growth region.
Vega to manufacture closer to customers in the future
With its production capacity, the new site is designed to meet the demands of the Chinese market. Manufacturing concepts and technical standards from Schiltach are being adopted. This enables the production of customer-specific products, optimized inventory management, and automated quality checks. Additionally, local production allows Vega to shorten delivery times and respond more flexibly to market demands. At the same time, customers in the region will benefit from faster technical support. Furthermore, transportation distances can be reduced, thereby lowering logistics-related CO2 emissions.
Sustainability defines the new Vega site
Sustainability played a central role in the planning and construction of the plant. According to the company, standards for environmental protection and energy efficiency exceeding the usual requirements were implemented. The building achieved the LEED Gold standard for sustainable construction. Technical features include a geothermal heat pump system, a rainwater recycling system, and a rooftop photovoltaic system. Furthermore, the building envelope consists of highly insulating materials designed to reduce energy consumption.
Specialists from Schiltach support the production ramp-up
In the coming months, the start-up of production will be supported by specialists from Schiltach. The goal is to ensure a smooth transition to series production and to gradually ramp up production processes at the new location. With the plant in Jiaxing, Vega is expanding its international manufacturing capacities while simultaneously strengthening regional production for the Chinese market.
