Continental has further developed its Blaudieck hose for the food and beverage industry. In order to maximize safety, cleanliness, robustness and precision, Continental's Contitech unit is the first company to consistently use polyethylene with ultra-long molecule chains (UPE) as the sole material solution for the hose's inner layer. This makes the new hose family suitable for all applications in the food and beverage industry. The series replaces Continental's previous range of food and beverage products.
Hose meets strict national and international requirements
"We are delighted that with Blaudieck Super we have been able to develop a hose that effortlessly meets the strict national and international requirements of this sector," says Pius Graf, area sales manager in the business segment responsible for food & beverage hoses at Continental. "The greatest advantage of our new Blaudieck Super hoses is their flexible application in all areas of the food and beverage industry," explains Pius Graf. "Not only are we increasing process safety and meeting the increasingly strict standard requirements that apply in this sector, especially in Europe. By focusing on UPE as material for the hose core we are also making it easier for buyers and users to find the right hose for each individual situation. After all, Blaudieck Super is a suitable solution for all situations."
UPE lining in hose for all applications
In the food and beverage industry, safety is the best recipe. The Blaudieck Super hose was developed with this in mind. It has a white, non-porous and plasticizer-free UPE inner layer. With its specific properties, is suitable for all applications under the demanding conditions in dairies, breweries and the food industry.
The low permeability of the hose's inner layer protects the medium from contamination. At the same time, it makes the hoses even more resistant to certain media. It can withstand temperatures of up to 95 degrees Celsius permanently and up to 110 degrees Celsius for short periods. This makes them more durable, easier to maintain and therefore more economical. Hoses with UPE can be cleaned easily with saturated steam up to 130 degrees Celsius. This enables users to easily meet the high hygiene requirements in food and beverage industry and to change media efficiently. Last but not least, the homogeneous UPE inner layer ensures a consistently stable inner diameter. This prevents the risk of contamination or bacteria build-up.
Various hose designs for maximum flexibility
In addition to the classic hose with an UPE inner layer, fabric-reinforced NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) outer layer and pressure carrier made of synthetic yarns, the Blaudieck Super is also available with an integrated steel wire spiral for particularly demanding suction tasks. For use in explosion-prone areas, it is also available in an electrically conductive version with an integrated ohmic conductive strip. It is resistant to oils and greases both internally and externally and is also not attacked by common cleaning agents and disinfectants or chemicals. The operating pressure is 16 bar.
Press fittings and half-shell fittings as connection technology
Continental offers the Blaudieck Super range in all common nominal diameters from 19 to 100 millimeters (DN 19 - DN 100) and in a standard length of 40 meters. However, individual lengths and ready-pressed hose lines including fittings are also possible. This is because connection technology plays an important role in the food and beverage industry. With the Pagufix swaged fitting and the Paguclamp half-shell fitting, Continental also provides the ideal solution for the Blaudieck Super in this area. Their geometry is tailored to the hose design so that the hose's inner layer is not damaged when the fitting is installed and the hose end is completely sealed.
