Emerson has introduced the next generation of the Rosemount 3490 level and flow controller to help reduce complexity, optimise processes and improve sustainability. The controller has been designed for ease of use and offers comprehensive control functions for four to 20 milliampere or Hart-compatible transmitters. The controller has been specially developed for applications in the water and wastewater industry as well as in the process industry, for example in the chemical industry.

The "Rosemount 3490" is the first flow controller with an easy-to-programme configuration wizard that supports the user in setting up the controller. This significantly reduces the complexity and time required for this process. A further improvement in user-friendliness is the controller's modern, intuitive graphical user interface with a clear menu structure and a backlit 4.3-inch colour LCD display, which simplifies the ongoing operation and status displays of the device.

Combination of flow controller and level and flow transmitter with non-contact radar

The combination of the "Rosemount 3490" controller and "Emerson Rosemount 1208C" level and flow transmitter with non-contact radar enables companies to achieve accurate and reliable measurements with easy configuration via Hart. This can improve operational efficiency in a variety of water and wastewater applications. These include automatic control of up to six pumps, filtration, sludge treatment and flow in open channels, flumes and weirs. Thanks to their robust design, the controllers and transmitters are suitable for use in the harsh environments typical of these applications, such as in chemical production.

Minimise overfilling and water wastage

The accuracy of the level and flow measurement contributes to greater sustainability and helps to minimise overfilling and water waste. The simplified handling of reports and documentation with the "Rosemount 3490" ensures compliance with industry guidelines and regulations. The flow controller allows you to totalise a large number of flow measurements, calculate differences and easily log and transmit data to regulatory authorities via a web interface with Ethernet connection. "When designing the Rosemount 3490, our main focus was on outstanding ease of use and making a controller for flow and level measurements that is as simple as possible to configure and operate," says Vladislav Snitko, Radar Level Solutions Engineer for Emerson's Measurement Solutions Division. "The 'Rosemount 3490' controller and the 'Rosemount 1208C' level and flow transmitter together form a cost-effective, dedicated solution for water and wastewater applications that not only helps companies reduce downtime and costs, but also ensures water safety and quality."
