Igus has expanded its portfolio of prefabricated “readycable” products for moving applications in industrial environments. The latest additions are robust camera cables with connectors for Keyence systems. Designers can use these plug-and-play solutions immediately – for example, with moving high-speed cameras. This reduces downtime and eliminates the need for time-consuming in-house cabling work.

Camera cables for moving systems

An automotive production case study highlights the benefits: a high-speed camera monitoring weld seams during production stopped working due to a broken data cable. Markus Hüffel, Product Manager readychain and “readycable” at Igus, explained that in moving applications cables are often exposed to considerable stress caused by travel speed, bending radius, or environmental conditions, and are therefore among the first components to fail. With the new robust camera cables, Igus provides solutions specifically designed for continuous motion.

Plug-and-play with Keyence connectors

The new power and data cables are compatible with Keyence vision systems. Designers can configure them online and adapt them to their specific applications. Igus also offers the “readychain” service with fully pre-assembled energy chain systems. These include the three-dimensional “triflex e-chain,” which reliably follows the dynamic movements of robot arms.

Production and quality assurance of robust camera cables

At its Cologne headquarters, Igus produces more than ten million meters of its “chainflex” cables each year. Over 200 automated machines handle extrusion, winding, testing, and assembly. To guarantee performance, all robust camera cables are electrically tested and subjected to mechanical stress tests. The data collected is integrated into an online service life calculator, which predicts durability based on application parameters.

Production and quality assurance of camera cables

Thanks to its comprehensive quality assurance, Igus offers a four-year warranty on cables with online service life calculation. Robust camera cables are delivered within ten working days – cut to the required length and equipped with the correct connectors for Keyence systems.

Conclusion: Robust camera cables ensure operational safety

The new additions to the “readycable” portfolio help companies operate vision systems more reliably in demanding, moving applications. They support continuous operation, reduce the risk of failures, and improve overall productivity in industrial environments.
