Ziemann Holvrieka presents the “T-Rex WET,” a milling unit for wet milling. The dry version of this series has been established on the market since 2015. With the new design, the concept is now being transferred to hygienically demanding processes. The milling unit is characterized by its grinding mechanism. Instead of classic cylindrical rollers, interlocking, double-conical grinding segments are used. These form a zigzag-shaped grinding gap. Compared to conventional roller mills, this reduces the length of the grinding unit by up to two-thirds.

In the latest development, the edges of the grinding discs consists of interlocking double-conical segments that create a zigzag-shaped passage area. This design modification ensures more even surface utilization and increases resistance to foreign objects. At the same time, convex surfaces now meet, which promotes even abrasion and extends the service life of the discs.

Modular milling unit with reduced maintenance requirements

The directly driven grinding shafts of the grist mill have a modular design. The disc package and wear parts can be replaced within two to three hours, including a test run. This modular design increases efficiency, reduces the number of wear parts, and simplifies maintenance work.

All sensors are designed for direct connection to a process control system. A digital MTP module file contains all relevant information for integration into suitable control systems. This allows the milling unit to be integrated into both new plants and existing processes.

Grist mill for dry and wet grinding

The “T-Rex” is available in a dry version for outputs of five to 25 tons per hour, based on malt in accordance with DIN 8777. The wet version achieves the same performance levels. For wet milling, the grinding discs and housing are made of stainless steel. The design is fully CIP-compatible and suitable for hygienically demanding applications in breweries.

Use in brewing processes

With the wet version, the manufacturer is expanding the range of applications for the grist mill to include brewing processes where, in addition to performance, cleanability and material resistance are also key factors.
