The focus of Prosweets Cologne 2025 is on new types of confectionery and snack packaging, modern packaging technologies, and important raw materials and process technologies for production. Theegarten-Pactec is presenting its packaging solutions for the confectionery and snack industry at the trade fair. At a joint stand with its partners Makrev and Sweet Connect, the Dresden-based company will be presenting the CHS high-speed packaging machine, which will be packaging 1,600 products per minute into letter folds at the trade fair. Thanks to its modular design, the packaging machine will be demonstrating its flexible range of applications on site.

The machine was developed for the gentle packaging of chocolate products. Its flexibility allows for a quick change between different folding types. It also makes it easy to quickly change between different product formats. This allows for more flexible handling of frequently changing, seasonal products, such as the production of Christmas or Easter items. Long and thus costly changeover times are eliminated. The simple and flexible changeover option for different packaging types also gives customers greater investment security. Instead of having to invest in new machines when product sales decline, the CHS can be converted to a different product with new formats or a different fold.

Flexible packaging machine enables different product feeds

In addition, various types of product feed are possible. You can choose between a single- or double-lane belt feed or a robot-assisted chain feed. In particular, the double-lane feed enables particularly high speeds in the packaging process, such as when folding letters, where 1,600 products per minute can be processed. The two-lane feeder halves the feed speed and enables particularly gentle processing of delicate products such as chocolate or jelly. For the product discharge downstream of the packaging process, you can also choose between an organized single- or two-lane discharge.

Packaging machine sustainably packages 1,600 chocolate bars per minute

At the upcoming trade fair, the particularly effective packaging process of the exhibited CHS high-performance machine will be demonstrated using small chocolate bars folded like an envelope. With a two-lane infeed, a speed of 1,600 products per minute will be shown. In addition, Theegarten-Pactec will demonstrate how a two-lane feeder of twice 800 pieces can be used to effectively connect to a secondary packaging machine. This allows customers to use existing secondary packaging lines in their machine park and avoid the need to make a new investment at this point.

The packaging machine also supports the megatrend towards sustainable packaging. These packages are designed to help reduce plastic use or to be fully recyclable. The company's high-speed machines are also being further developed with a view to using environmentally friendly materials without sacrificing efficiency. At Prosweets, Theegarten-Pactec will be demonstrating the packaging process on the CHS using metallized paper as packaging material for Napolitains, which can be recycled in the waste paper stream. This shows how easily the machine can be converted to use more sustainable packaging materials.

Outlook: Packaging machine to become even more versatile in 2025 thanks to new folding types

Since its presentation at Interpack 2023, the manufacturer has made numerous improvements to the CHS over the past year and a half. The result is expected to be launched in the course of 2025. These include an increase in the number of folding types, thus making the CHS even more flexible. The new development should also make it possible to create top twist, side twist, Viennese fruit twist, as well as foiling, for example for chocolate eggs or balls, and the so-called fancy fold for products with a bottom, in the coming year. The demand for the CHS is already high. The machine manufacturer has already successfully placed 14 machines on the market.

Combined partner power for Prosweets

Even customers who do not need a high-performance machine due to lower production volumes will find the right solution at the Theegarten-Pactec stand. For example, the consultants from partner Makrev are on hand to help customers find particularly flexible packaging machines for chocolate, hard caramel and jelly products in the medium output range: Makrev's intermittent motion machines can handle numerous types of packaging, enable quick format changes and a change of packaging type, which shortens set-up times and effectively saves costs. In September 2022, Theegarten-Pactec acquired a stake in the Turkish company, thereby expanding its product portfolio.

Sweet Connect digitalization platform

As in the previous year, visitors to the stand can also find out more about the Sweet Connect digitalization platform. Developed specifically for the confectionery industry, the platform pools the resources of its partners. It offers its customers the opportunity to digitally map their entire production process. Theegarten-Pactec founded Sweet Connect together with its partners Sollich, Chocotech and Winkler + Dünnebier. Since October 29, another partner has been on board: the renowned confectionery machine manufacturer Aasted from Denmark. You will find Theegarten-Pactec at Prosweets Cologne 2025 in Cologne in Hall 10.1 at Stand F011.
