With the “Basic Series,” Vega launched a sensor platform in its portfolio since 2020 that has established itself as a robust and economical solution for standard applications. The radar sensors for level measurement detect fill levels in silos and tanks even under challenging environmental conditions such as dust, noise, or coarse-grained bulk solids. The 500,000th device was recently delivered. It is being used by a European manufacturer of sustainable building materials.
Robust radar sensors for demanding applications
The radar sensors are based on a specially developed 80-gigahertz radar chip, combined with a PVDF housing, molded electronics, and PUR cable. The design allows use in potentially explosive areas of zones 1 and 2 without additional barriers or special accessories. This makes the radar sensors for level measurement particularly interesting for applications in the process industry, water management, and logistics. According to Vega, it is currently the only supplier to offer all relevant components in a fully encapsulated design.
Flexible portfolio with easy commissioning
The “Vegapuls 11,” “Vegapuls 21,” and “VegapulsPro 31” model series, as well as the versions with fixed cable connection, cover a wide range of applications. Commissioning is convenient via smartphone and the free “Vega Tools” app, which also offers backup and diagnostic functions. No additional software or license models are required.
Radar sensors for level measurement as a practical solution
The “Basic portfolio” complements Vega's “Pro series” and fills the gap between high-end applications and cost-sensitive standard measuring points. Their simple operation, robust design, and compatibility with industrial requirements make the radar sensors for level measurement a practical choice for standard processes in process engineering.
